Dr Spiros Kitsinelis is a researcher focusing on the development of novel and energy efficient light sources. He gained his master's and PhD degrees in Chemistry from the University of Sheffield in England, for his research and development of pulse operated low pressure plasma light sources in the High Temperature Science Laboratories. He continued his research as a post-doctoral fellow at Ehime University in Japan in the department of electrical and electronic engineering.

He began his parallel career in science communication after his participation in the international competition Famelab (in 2007) where he received both the audience and the judging committee’s first awards. Famelab is a science communication competition organized by the British council in more than fifteen countries in three continents. Since then he has been an active science communicator and his projects include science theater, debates, science cafes and other presentations, science films, articles in magazines, books etc.

His science communication activities include some pioneering projects for his country such as science theater and it is clear from his work so far that he is now a prominent figure in this field.
