It's over month now since the 2009 NESTA FameLab competition ended with the UK Final at the Cheltenham Science Festival and the 10 finalists have been busy, and you might even be able to see them performing soon at a venue near you...

The ten NESTA FameLab Finalists have been named to compete at the NESTA FameLab Grand Final for £10,000 and Channel 4 TV appearances.

Oxford puts on a show
Science Oxford hosted the NESTA FameLab Oxford Regional Heat on Tuesday the 28th April. It was a very entertaining and educational day of mass and gravity, helicopters, the brain and nervous system, and sperm.
London Regional Final... Hard to pick just one winner
Who would have thought that the life cycle of the sun could be descibed as a spotty teenager and a man with middle-aged spread? This is how the winner of NESTA FameLab's London regional heat got through to the finals.
Bristol...the best heat ever??
Bristol NESTA FameLab was ear-marked as the best talent that NESTA FameLab has seen ever! The regional final saw 10 of the top competitors during the day perform at their best. Taking on the hints that were given in the mini-MasterClass by communications expert Malcolm Love, the top 10 produced a spell binding showcase of research happening around the UK.
Manchester Turns up the Heat!
Manchester FameLab set the standard very high for the first heat of NESTA FameLab on Saturday the 4th April. The Manchester Regional Winner was Lewis Dartnell a postdoc from University College of London. The two selected wildcards who will go into a second round with other wildcards from around the UK were Simon Choppin, a sports engineer researcher from Sheffield Hallam University and Andrew Russell, a Postdoctoral researcher from the University of Manchester.
Manchester Launches NESTA FameLab!
Manchester turned up the volume for the first NESTA FameLab regional heat on the 4th April. Presentations ranged from frogs to clouds, chaos theory to men's nipples... A great day of fun and laughter with a touch of nervousness! But fighting through the nerves paid off for three winners on the day.
NESTA FameLab 2009 Competition Now Open!
We are excited to announce that after three hugely successful competitions in 2005, 2006 & 2007 NESTA FameLab is back for 2009! The competition opens with the launching of our new website famelab.org on Monday 2nd March.
