I passionately believe that science communication should be all about making things fun. We all remember falling asleep in our science classes at school as we entered the third month of deciding where Fat Billy would have to sit on a see-saw to balance Thin Milly. But this isn't what science is! Science has the most extraordinary ability to satisfy my curiosity in a way that no other subject can replicate. You want to know why your t-shirt is blue? Science has the answer. Why things grow? Yep, that's covered too. How light bulbs work? I think you catch my drift...
I'm always looking for new opportunities - I've been fortunate enough to cut my teeth in the science communication world with the BBC on the Bang Goes the Theory roadshow, but I've got fingers in a lot of pies! My current preoccupation is getting ready for an Ironman triathlon which I'm doing to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. It's a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride, followed by a full 26.2 mile marathon. It's probably going to hurt!
I'd love to combine my enthusiasm for all things active with science communication. I'm always thinking about how I might manage that, but if anyone has any great ideas, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
